My boyfriend is going to be stationed somewhere in the US for four years while I attend college, and I'm only willing to follow him if there's great schools in the area, I don't want to compromise my education, cities include

Groton, CT

San Diego, CA

Norfolk, VA

and somewhere in Hawaii

  1. You need to find out if military spouses get instate tuition wherever you go. As a girl friend following your boy friend you certainly won't. Out of state tuition can be as much as $30,000 a year higher than instate. Otherwise for instate you would need to establish your residency and be a resident for 1 year before you'd be eligible for the cheaper rate. If that is not a problem for you don't forget the military won't be providing anything extra for living expenses and you won't be able to live on base in the dormitory with him.

  2. Google the town. Other than that I recommend the Navy Education Center on the post at which . They usually offer classes on post through local universities. They will also have a listing of local colleges.

  3. How about you just worry about your education and stop worrying about him. He will understand that you're education comes first.

  4. I will answer your question directly first:  I don't think there is a way to search except to google the name of the city and college.

Next, some unsolicited advice from an air force wife....if your bf is navy, he's likely to be overseas often, in which case he won't even be around.  Did you know that a semester is only from early sept to early dec and then jan to early may.  My advice is to go to school wherever you want, and then just go visit on weekends, vacations, which are plentiful in college and breaks.  You can do college in three years if you really try, which is NOT an option if you transfer because each college is going to require at least 2 years at that college before it will reward a degree.  And then what happens if you go to a stronger college first; you will have to accept a degree from a lesser school because you went there last.  Online classes are an option if you do a large school.  Another piece of advice from a military spouse is that the military can be unpredictable; he could be deployed for pcs'd at any time; you CANNOT plan around this.  YOu just can't.  So you take care of school on your own, and things will fall into place.  Plus, I think you should at least be engaged before you move for a guy.  Good luck.

  5. Dont base your education off of wear your boyfriend is stationed.

At most, choose the college of your choice...after two year, if everything in your relationship is absolutly perfect.....relocate to a closer college.....

It is not wise to be the chaser.....especially when it can impact the rest of your life.
