What is the best way to sell a car for parts?

I have a 2001 Saab whose engine has died (sludge), but the body and interior are in perfect condition. I'm sure a junkyard would make thousands on the parts. Is there a good way for me as a private owner to sell it for parts?

  1. Yes, many of the smaller parts can be sold on ebay, the rest can be sold privately or at car boot sales or even auction. Some people sell the whole car on ebay as 'spares or repair'

  2. Often a person can sell the shell to some one that is interested in putting another motor in it but I have known folks that have spent many hours tearing one apart and selling the parts. The problem comes from local  ordinances many cities will not allow you to do it. There are many neighborhood associations that won't let you do it either but the real big deal is that most often you are going to have to sit on parts for a very long time to get rid of them and that could be years. The junk yard that you speak of has hundreds of cars to strip the perts from and that is the only reason that they could stay in business. I would try to sell the unit as is stating the the motor is bad but that it has a great body and interior
