What is the best way to sell a stamp collection that has been inherited?

My husband inherited a very large stamp collection. He has no particular interest in stamps and would be interested in finding out the value and possibly selling the stamp collection to someone who would appreciate it, either as a whole or divided. He is not sure how to do this. Does anyone know of a way to do this?

  1. After you figure out the value, sell your stamps on MarketWall:

    http://marketwall.com

MarketWall is a free site for selling locally.

  2. the best thing to do is not sell them

collectibles, like wine, value with age

wait until a rainy day or retirement to sell them off cause they are an investment.

  3. Sell it at a specialised auction.

  4. I'm in the same boat actually and would be very interested to know myself!!

  5. ebay.

would be the way to sell a collection.

or go to one of those small shops that are like in the middle of no where and see if u could prop it there and the owner of the store will send u the money in retun.

or one of those county fairs.

  6. Its possible that there may be one or two rarities in there - I would suggest wither photographing each page (if in a n album) or simply making a note of the number/style colour etc (to prevent any going missing), then contacting a  specialist auction or stamp dealer. Gibbons is probably the most famous

In the first instance I'd phone them to chat about what you have and then take them in if they are interested
