What is the best way to spread the word of a new forum?

We started a new forum, still a work in progress but we opened the doors.

What do you consider top ways to promote it which would allow members to find it?

There are forum directories you can add your link to.  Other people have good ideas: post on other forums, make comments on blogs that are on the same topic, and get links from other sites.  Article marketing is also a great way to do it.

1. Post it on other forums, where people are looking for the same topic

2. Submit to social networking sites like Digg and Stumbleupon

3. Get links from high traffic websites on the same topic

try to put it on the ''links section'' of other forums or if you're willing to pay try to advertise it on google.
