  1. Seems you have it figured out.

  2. with the key. is it vaccum choke? probably you were waiting for gas to make it back to carb. that can take a while if you have the old mechanical fuel pump. a trick for carberated vehicles is to put a on off valve in the fuel line near carb. if you know that you will be parking car for extended period with car running turn valve to off position and let the car use all the fuel out of carb. this keeps fuel from evaporating from carb and stops varnishing and sticking of carb componets gives much longer time between rebuilds of carb. you can also put a small electric fuel pump inline that you use to pull fuel from tank to carb without relying on the mechanical pump which means turning engine over for long periods which is bad for starter waiting to get fuel so engine can crank.

  3. You need to prime the carb.

    Use some starter fluid,

But not on a flooded engine.

  4. That old of car that sounds wright my first car was a 65 wildcat nice cars.
