What is the best way to stop hornworms from eating your tomato plants?

  2. You can use Sevin powder, but the rain washes it off. You can also pick them off. They are large, so I suggest you squash them between two leaves if you are squeemish.

  3. Usually there are but one or two of the pests in an entire tomato patch even though you may think there are hundreds from the amount they eat.  The best way is to search for them on bottom side of the branches and hand pick them.  They usually won't be far from where the've been eating.  You can wear gloves if you like but they will not hurt you. You can then squash them on the ground or drop them in a bucket of water.
