  1. Don't buy cigarettes.

    Just learn self control and don't buy them. If you don't have any, than you can't smoke.

    Yeah it sucks, knowing that all you have to do is drive up to the store and get some. But don't. Than you wont be addicted.


  2. I was able to completely stop through using the patch.  Easy and no hardship.

  3. On the physical side I used nicotine gum. For the mental bit I kept a pack of smokes around the house, so that I knew if i wanted one I could have it. That way I felt less deprived.  

  4. See a trained Hypnotherapist--works wonderfully!

  5. Self-hypnosis worked for me.  I was able to get over it within just a few months and I have never gone back to smoke again. .

    I just tried it out on my own and it sort of conditioned my mind to accept smoking as bad for my health.  

  6. i've quit twice now. once when i was pregnant the first time, and now again with this pregnancy. i plan to stay quit this time, last time i didn't care...i liked smoking.

    i always use the out of sight-out of mind method...works well for me. even when people would smoke around me they would usually go outside anyway, and i just wouldn't go. after about a week its not so much willpower to keep from smoking...but i admit it is tough. its tough any way you do it though.

  7. Read the book by Allen Carr.

    It explains what smoking does to you psychologically and physically and how you can get into the right state of mind to permanently stop smoking.

    I read it and stopped sometime later as it took time for this to gell in. That was 13 years ago. Had I not read the book i would still be smoking.


  8. Take a Yoga class and learn breath work (pranayama). It focus's your mind on your breath and not on a panic attack due to not having something to smoke.   Also another way we did was buy some jelly beans and when your addiction is calling to you, have a jelly bean.

    Your body has a physical habit that is looking for what it use to do.. As in removing your glasses and finding you automatically try to push them up even though you don't have them on.  That jelly bean helps with that.
