Mind that the wrestler is well versed and more powerful & stronger than you. Your Ju-Jitsu is well rounded though

  1. A well rounded submission fighter shouldn't mind figthing off his back so let the more powerful and stronger wrestler take you down and once your down secure a good position then work for the finish, which can vary depending on your positioning, armbars, triangles, chokes etc.. Wrestlers love the take down and for me a "ground fighter" I love the ground game more than anything else so bring it.

  2. Get him into a position he may not be familiar with.  Remember a wrestler's main focus in a wrestling match is to pin his opponent, so therefore he will be acting the same way in a fight against you.

Most of the time a Wrestler isn't accustomed to being on his back.  There will be exceptions, however.  Anyways, Rear Naked Choke would be my first bet.  Next would be an Arm Bar or a Triangle Choke if he gets ontop of you.

  3. Perfect example right here.

Just wait for your opening and hope he doesn't kill you before then.

  4. I think the "best way" depends on the situation, it could be as simple as sprawling on a double leg takedown attempt and sinking a guillotine  or be far more involved and you may get lucky with an arm or wrist lock.

One thing is for sure, the longer you roll with the wrestler, the odds increase in his favor, unless of course you are a well conditioned BJJ of Jiu-Jitsu guy..

  5. In my experience wrestlers usually fight for a dominant position. So I'll allow the takedown and make sure I go down safely rather than sprawl (in submission grappling, not mma). Then lock in a triangle and work the choke or armbar.
