I am a 20 year old female who cannot run a mile...even if I tried. In order to get in shape some friends and I decided to run a 5k in mid-October (of this year). I would like to start a program...however, I have no idea where/what to start.

  1. Hey glad you've decided to start running, I love it. Like Groovy said go to cool running.com and start the C25K program. It designed to take people off the couch and end up doing a 5k. You start off walking , then walking and running. The next thing you know you and your Friends will be crossing the finish line. It also has a forum site where you can go and talk to other people who are training for the same thing, called newbie. They'll help you with any problems you have while training and support you. The other thing I suggest is when you start go to a running shoe store and let them fit you with a pair of good running shoes to prevent you from hurting yourself. I started by walking and running and now I've done 4 half marathons and training for my first Half. I've used cool running from the beginning. Also get you some cool max socks, they keep you from getting blisters. Carry water with you and hydrate well.

    best of luck to you.
