What is the best way to train for a running compitition?

Im having a running compitition and i really need some tips and hints on the best way to train for it.

The compitition is 2.5km.

I need to know what equipment to have with me when i run and i need to know when to take my water/drink before i train.

AND..............What is the best way to get rid of stitch?

  1. It depends where you got the stich if its in the leg you should be careful while running. Use a knee brace if it is in the leg just to be safe. And try wrapping it with med tape

Train by running.  Do 2.5 to 3 Km runs 4 times a week.  The only equipment you need are running shoes, shorts and a shirt.  Stay hydrated all the time, you're not running far enough to really worry about hydration during the race.  Just don't run on a full stomach.  To avoid stitches do side bending stretches before running, if you get a stitch while running keep running and put your hands on your head.  This will stretch the oblique muscles.
