I swim competitively for a club and consider myself a distance swimmer. I go 18:32.97 for 1500 LC (slightly slower than the provincial standard) I swim 8 times a week for about 20 hours, run 2 times a week, lift 2 times a week, but I want to be one of the top ranked nationaly (age group). I would appretiate any advice from coaches and other distance swimmers.

PS. I'm 15 years old.

    keep training?

  2. There are a couple of things, the first is to work on your technique and DPS.  The more efficient your stroke the better.  The second is obvious, practice.  Keep working on your aerobic base and conditioning.  Take a look at the top 16 times from years past so you know what it will take to be top 16 in the future, these are located on the USA Swimming website.  That should help you put together some short and long range goals.  Ask your coach for some training goals to get you to your competition goals.

  3. What your doing now is good, practice is the best thing to do,

    personally m a sprinter so i wouldn't have a tips on distance.
