I am stopping over for one night in London en route to California.

I am traveling alone.

The airline will not let me check my bags in the night before. There are no lockers situated at Heathrow aiport.

if you are in transit, you are responsible for looking after your hand baggage. You should use the facilities at Heathrow, if you can't to leave it there. I wouldn't take it with you into London to a train station - that's wasteful!

GBP4 per 24 hours at Heathrow for luggage storage.

one facility that offers it is:

    Have fun

London is a great city to explore: use the Heathrow express train - 20 mins between Paddington and Heathrow - much quicker, safer and claener than the Underground (tube).

  2. there aren't any lockers for security reasons, but there are left luggage facilities, see

£4 per item per 24 hours ... you might want to find out whether you're flying out from the same terminal that you come in to (I assume you know there are five different terminals at Heathrow) and make sure you put your suitcases into the left luggage at the terminal you're flying out from so that it's easier to get the next day ... there are buses which go between the different terminals

the easiest way to get to Kings Cross would be with the underground, the Piccadilly line which goes to Heathrow goes straight through ... there is also the Heathrow Express train but it comes into Paddington station and then you've got the hassle of getting a tube or a bus along to Kings Cross ... see the tube map at

you would need to buy a single ticket to Zone 1 which will cost £4.00 (pay in cash or with a credit/debit card)... unless you're planning on doing a lot of sightseeing in which case you might want to consider a one day travelcard for either the first or the second day ... however if this is your first visit and you want to see as much as you can, I'd recommend one of the open top bus tours such as

    enjoy !!
