  1. Train and plane.  If you are in germany, visit the dba site for great fares.  : )

  2. train

  3. Have you ever thought of a motor home?  I'm going to Bavaria for 10 days in July, right after the World Cup concludes.  You have your transportation, sleeping arrangements and food right there.  And it's not as expensive as I thought it was going to be.  It's much cheaper than renting one in the US.  Check out www.mhrww.com

  4. Metro (subway)

  5. I think car.

  6. I much prefer renting a car.  I love to stop at the little bakeries for Kuchen, getting out to walk a walled city, checking out the little churches, chapel and cathedrals, finding surprise castles that are little known in the villages.  I don't usually even take the autobahn, I prefer the little country roads and have even been scolded by the farmers for using their bauernweg!  I have made the most interesting discoveries off the beaten path or railway.

  7. Go for train if you can. The Europass lets you travel by train all over Europe... trains travel more slowly than cars but they are more direct and much less stressful.

  8. If I had to pick between car and train, I would always pick car. The reason for it is that you can go at your own pace. If you pass by a city that interests you, you can stop and check it out. The train does provide a more relaxing travel opportunity though. Don't give your hopes up on train tickets. They are not as cheap as people say they are. You'll spend just as much or less on gas then you will for a train ticket.

Also, you may want to consider flying. Ryan Air is a very popular airline that flies just around Europe. Fares are anywhere from 0.01 Euro to 250.00 Euro. That's right, you can fly to some places for 1 Euro cent (plus taxes). It all depends on where you want to go and why. Good luck!

  9. Trains.  Much cheaper and much more fun.  You can relax and let the someone else do the driving.  You will see more scenery that way, too.  Also a good way to meet Europeans.
