For those that don't know Keds, think of a slip on trainer, very similar to converse/sneakers. They are fabric uppers, no leather, and I need to wash them but don't know if they have to be hand washed, can go in the machine, what to use on them? Can anyone help?

  1. I'm not sure why everyone's giving special instructions - are these special Keds?

Throw them in the wash with the regular wash - pretreating (spray n wash/shout) if necessary - air dry.  This works great on the canvas as well as washable leather varieties of Keds.

  2. Spray them with 409 cleaner and let them sit for 30 - 40 minutes then hand wash them and sun dry them the dryer only beats them up and the soles start coming loose from the upper part of the shoe.

  3. You can wash them in a machine but add towels to the wash so the sneakers won't get deformed. also good to stuff them with a hand towel in the dryer to prevent deforming. it is also good to pore a layer of soap on the stains and real dirty areas before putting in the wash. Also use COLD water wash so the glued areas will stay glued!!

  4. you can hand wash them but also can put them in machine, however put them in a cotton bags so the machine goes easy on them and look what soap you use.
