I have been on them only 3 months. I started on Lexapro then a few weeks ago switched to Pristiq (form of effexor.) I really want to try a natural approach b/c I have heard a lot of bad things about the meds the longer you take them.

I dont really take them for depression, rather for anxiety. I am hoping that an exercise routine will help that.

So, anyways, what would be the best way to wean off of them? Should i take half a pill ofr a week or so of take it every other day or what? Thanks for your help! ;o)

  1. Talk to your doctor about weaning off the meds, but, just on a personal note, I also have anxiety and the meds never worked for me. You can take Xanax or Librium for immidiate relief, but those are very addictive. I have tried everything including acupuncture and hypnotherapy. Nothing worked. Meds didn't work. The "alternative" therapies were a crock. So I see a counselor once a week now and have been doing that since January. I have figured out a lot more about why I have anxiety and where it stems from, what things are really bothering me in my life now and throughout my entire life in general. It has honestly helped me with the anxiety-the only thing that has worked. I hope this helps if you are interested in taking the natural approach to attacking those issues. Good luck!
