What is the best way to ween off coffee/caffeine?

Instead of my daily cup of morning coffee, I decided to have a glass of hot black tea instead, and now I am experiencing headaches. Please provide me with some tips and suggestions... =]

  1. There are grain based beverages out there (Inka, teechino, postum) that you can mix with your coffee to cut your caffeine intake.  Start with a 1/2 and 1/2 mixture and then gradually increase the coffee substitute and reduce the coffee.   Stay hydrated, and you'll reduce the caffeine withdrawal.

    Just keep in mind...I've tried all the above coffee substitutes.  None of them taste remotely like coffee, so you may miss the taste more than you miss the caffeine.


  2. It's in your head.  Just don't drink it.  If you have a headache, take a couple aspirin.

  3. Just don't buy products with caffeine, problem solved, what you are experiencing is normal, your body became so addicted to caffeine, that it now expects to have it everyday..

  4. Only 1 cup of coffee? I could see if you drank a pot every morning.excederine helped my sister.

  5. Regular tea has caffeine in it too, so you need to pick something else. How about decaffeinated green tea? It is healthy for you.

  6. Take painkillers and throw out your coffee, If its not there then you can't have. I experienced headaches, mood swings and tiredness after giving up an energy drink and again when I stopped buying coke.

I don't think cutting it straight out is a good idea at all.  Caffiene is something you become addicted to, and if you cut it out instanty it will cause headaches (it is proven to happen, it is not just pyschological).  I suggest slowly pulling away from it.  For instance, instead of a cup of coffee, go for a little less every day, and making up for it with the other drink you want.  It will take a while for your body to get used to not having the caffeine, so it is best to do it slow and subtle.  =)  I hope this helps!
