  1. My guess is that you want a vacation that includes air and hotel in the price. You didn't state how long a vacation in Rome that you wanted to take or your departure city.  That aside, there are 2 Vacation Packages that are currently available.

The first Package is 4 Days/3 nights in Rome, Italy.  What you receive as part of your stay is: Your choice of your centrally-located hotel, services of a Local Host, a city map, and sightseeing with a Local Guide.  Visit St. Peter's Square and Basilica, Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel, the Colosseum and Roman Forum.  All of this starting at: $649.00

Another possibility(it is more budget-friendly as it includes air and accomodations) is the The Universo Hotel(Rome, Italy) Package.  The rooms are quite nice, and all are equipped with air-conditioning, soundproofing, fire prevention system, pay TV, satellite TV, internet connection points, mini-bar and safe.  It is located in the central part of Rome, near the Teatro dell' Opera and government buildings.  The rates for this Package start at: $1,115.00.  This rate includes: Roundtrip airfare from your departure city, 4 Nights accomodations, and all hotel taxes.  A very good deal.  This deal is good for the month of October 2006 only.

  2. The best guide for Rome (subjective opinion!) is by Fonisol.

You can book tours, hotels, etc. from them also, just follow the links.

They have a great blog for Rome Events (something quite useful to see when you are there!) at

    Good luck and Ciao!

  3. I've found that the B&B website I've been looking at is very helpful as far as accommodations go. You could also try Expedia or Orbiitz.

  4. If you're looking for a la carte services (hotel, tours, car rental, etc), that you can arrange rather independently, rather than going with a tour company, try http://www.initaly.com.  We've used them for 3 vacations and everything has worked out well each time.
