What is the best website to plan a road trip? Prefer free, and would like to be able to find hotels on way.?

I have already tried Rand McNally but that didn't work out very well. Please only respond if you have actually used the website you are going to recommend. Thanks!!

choice hotels you can look up hotels and map a trip - stay three separate nights sept 1 to dec x*x and get $50 gas card or free nights - some hotels are terrific and some are not and the pictures can lie -

The best way to achieve this is to use the map facility on http://www.cheaperthanhotels.com/United-...

You can use the  "search by map" and put your starting point and end point in, then plot towns where you want t ostay along the way.

Although it's not perfect, the advantage is that there is a lot of last minute discount hotels along the way, and you can do price comparisons as well.
