  1. the BEST is www.name.com

    Why?

    - cheap domain name

    - free privacy (this means your personal details will not be seen by public, this is normally equal to domain price if you buy anywhere else)

    - free hosting using Google APPs (your own email name@yourdomain.co.uk and create as many pages as you want, supports php and similiar stuff)

  2. use http://www.LocoDomains.com they have  the best deals and service

  3. If you're from the UK I recommend http://www.hosttell.com/one They are one of the leading European hosting companies (hosting over 500 000 websites), and they currently have a promotion in the UK. They are offering free hosting and a domain (I think you have to pay about €10 setup fee and that's it). This way you get hosting and a domain for a price of a domain. Every plan includes Photo Gallery, WebEditor (so you can build a website without knowledge of HTML), Google Adwords coupon (so you can advertise your website on google for free) and a lot more. Check them out.

P.S. They are running this promotion in UK, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and India so if you're from one of these countries you can get really cheap web hosting.

  4. some of the most used seem to be www.godaddy.com and www.hostgator.com. also www.thinkhost.com is growing because of it's earthfriendly ideals.

a domain name as you know is not the expensive part because for $10 US dollars a year you really can't buy anything else.

about hosting the first two companies they surely are reliable and are being used by people that handle lots of traffic, which occupies bandwith you get from these hosting companies, and is essential for keeping your website able to handle lots of visitors.

so it's the hosting that costs you a monthly fee around that same price.

not everyone though let's you pay monthly but most yearly.

hostgator I think has monthly plans.

anyways you could avoid paying hosting and use a free hosting that let's you point your domain to it.

    example..

    www.weebly.com let's you do this.

instead without a domain of your own the URL would be www.yourdomain.weebly.com

you can test it with such a URL to see if you like the templates and gadgets, without spending a dime.

other similar sites I did not yet investigate are blinkweb.com launched last month,

    000webhost.com.

    good luck to you

  6. Hi,

There are many ways to market a small business on the web.  You can buy banner ads, text links, or use PPC.  However, the best way is to get listed in a bunch of portals. Portals and directories are like phone books, and they often provide a lot of traffic because they tend to rank high on Google.

This portal is giving away a free business card holder for lising your business (I got mine a few days ago in the mail).  If you want to know about some other portals, just let me know.
