The Halo Series is by far the best out there. They have an amazing storyline great Multiplayer and they even have Forge and Theatre. Bungie (The makers of the Series) have done a great job at making many games and have plans for three more games. Some so far away they seem impossible and some so close you can see them.

For RPG's I would say Lost Odyssey, it's got a RPG classic feel to it. I haven't tried Eternal Sonata yet though, and Infinite Undiscovery comes out in two days.

Shooters... Gears of War Is pretty good.

Fighters... Dead or Alive 4
