What is the better pantyhose color for work nude or suntan?

I want to settle this question once and for all. Some of my office friends say its nude other swear tan.

I suggest wearing nude...goes with everything.  In the summer you may be able to get away with suntan but nude is always "in".  Some may say that the suntan color looks a bit trashy too.

I work at a very button down, very old fashion, conservative accounting firm in the legal/tax section. We have a dress code that requires woman to wear hose with a dress or a skirt. So I know a little bit about this topic as I have asked a similar question recently. As a general rule I only wear nude or suntan to the office. I was always told by my mother that you want a light color (nude) during the day and a darker shade (suntan) of hose for going out at night. (of course my mother’s generation did not think twice about wearing hose with strapy sandles or open toe shoes). That being said a dorm mate in college swears her mother told her the exact opposite go dark during the day and light at night. A sales girl once told me that “go with your own natural skin tone”. If your light skinned go nude if darker go tan. I follow that advice so in the winter I usually go with nude color or barely their hose (very sheer brand of hose) and if I tan in the summer I go suntan hose. I also admit that these “rules” may no longer apply like the rule dont wear white after labor day.

Overall, I would say nude, or match your skin tone closely.

Every "professional women's guide to success" type book that I have ever seen, from the 1970's all the way to the new millennium, has said "nude".

Nude shows but doesn't show. In other words, you'll look polished, finished, and professional, but the color does not shout, "Hey, do you think I have nice legs?".

Tan (my own personal favorite) usually looks just fine, but can have the following drawbacks:

1. Looks too "fun" for some tastes

2. Looks too "s**y" for some tastes

3. More visible than nude, crossing the line from "polished" to "show off"

4. Looks great with medium and dark colored clothing, but clashes and ruins a light colored ensemble, particularly pastels, which look fine with nude

Nude is more "in" as well. Tan was popular in the 1970's, and kind of had equal billing with the wide variety of colors worn in the 1980's. When the black pantyhose/little black dress overkill of the 1990's finally crashed and burned, Donna Karan, Calvin Klein, and other pantyhose makers came out with their own special nude collections. Nude seems to have held center stage ever since.

i'd say nude. that's what i wear almost everyday as well to the office. just make sure they are very sheer.

I think its nude. Tan is more a 'looking s**y' kind of color and at work everything should be as natural as possible.

On the other hand, I am always short on pantyhose, so I just use whatever. But anyway, I prefer nude :-)
