  1. The G27, hands down.

The XD is nothing more than a wanna-be Glock. They only reason they are popular is because 1911 fanboy's are too stubborn to admit that Glocks are second to perhaps only HK.

The G27 is smaller, more accurate and far more reliable than the XD.

But you be the judge, go shoot both for yourself. I think you'll end up buying the Glock.

  2. I prefer the Glock 27...but the XD is good too.

The biggest difference between the 2 is the grip.

I've owned 2 Glocks and 1 XD, I've only ever had one jam on a glock and that was due to bad ammo, can't say the same with the XD (but it still didn't jam alot and refeeding the round solved the problem, but that also means it wasn't the ammo).  Recoil is subjective and your ability will determine accuracy not the handgun (between these two pistols at least).  Maintenance on both handguns is simple.

  3. I've own the XD .40 subcompact model and I love it. I particularly enjoy the fact that it comes with an extended mag that makes it more comfortable for everyday shooting and a carry mag too.

I've shot both weapons, and hands down, the safety features of the XD are much superior to the Glock, palm safety, trigger safety, hot round indicator, and a cocking/firing pin indicator.  Glock only has a trigger safety and accidental firings of Glocks are not unheard of.

I have found the balance and recoil to be comparable.  The XD fits my hand better than the Glock, but this might not be the case for everyone.

There are a lot of Glock fans here so, I'm sure you'll get many answers slamming the XD in favor of the Glock.  For some reason it has become the "popular gun" and to lots of neophytes its the only weapon they've ever heard of from the movies. So, they just chant " GLOCK, GLOCK, GLOCK". Don't get me wrong, I think they are good weapons and proven shooters, but the XD is too.

  4. both are excellent hand guns.  If you are considering purching one or the other, I would hold both of them and see which one more naturally fits in your hand and which one you can more naturally "point".  I recently faced this exact same question and ended up choosing the Beretta PX4 Storm in .40...

  5. I have seen a lot of Glock .40's with cracked slides. Doesn't seem to affect their 9mm or 45's, just the .40's. All I have seen cracked were used for correctional services or security purposes and saw many rounds for training.

    Not familiar with the springfield.

  6. They are equally balanced. Both are very reliable, accurate, and very nice handguns. It comes down to personal preference. I personally like the XDs better than Glocks. My money goes to Springfield Armory.

It is your choice. Both handguns are pretty equally matched.

  7. I would move up to compact and get the Sig P239 in .357/.40.

If you HAVE to go smaller, get a S&W .38spl. +P airlite revolver. That is what I carry in my shorts during the summer. Load it with Speer Gold Dot 135gr. +P ammo. They are specially made for snubbys.
