What is the bias of a snow pea?

You know how in recipes they say cut on the bias...what is that?

But it doens't really matter, it's just for appearance.

Cut it diagonally

that is diagonally. Think of a square on top of the snow pea each seam is two sides, you cut corner to corner across the bean so the cut is slanted.
