  1. they love it. its the way forward.

  2. The stand is that one should not drink to drunkeness or that alcohol should not be a priority in life. Drinking alcohol is NOT a sin.

  3. jesus shares wine with his apostles and wine is very traditional during jewish and christian mass but in the bible when mosses went to talk to god and all the Israelites got drunk and started sining god wasnt to happy

  4. Does the Bible restrict the use of alcohol? Many people would say yes. In fact, many Christian churches would go as far as saying that it is a sin.

"For example, Saddleback Church, a Southern Baptist mega-church in Southern California (led by Pastor Rick Warren, author of the popular book The Purpose-Driven Life) would apparently exclude Jesus as a staff member: The church’s "Maturity-Leadership Requirements" ask that each staff member "commit willingly to refrain from . . . consuming alcohol."Similarly, it seems that Mormons would not allow Jesus to enter their temples because perpetual abstinence from alcohol is required for entry. For that matter, some Christian denominations might even refuse Jesus membership in their churches. "

But is it? What does the Bible say?

Jesus said to [the servants], "Fill the jars with water." And they filled them up to the brim. He said to them, "Now draw some out, and take it to the steward of the feast." So they took it. When the steward of the feast tasted the water now become wine, and did not know where it came from (though the servants who had drawn the water knew), the steward of the feast called the bridegroom and said to him, "Every man serves the good wine first; and when men have drunk freely, then the poor wine; but you have kept the good wine until now." (John 2:7-10)

"The Son of Man has come eating and drinking; and you say, ‘Behold, a glutton and a drunkard’" (Luke 7:34).

Wow! Jesus not only turned water into wine but he was accused of being a drunk. Now, Jesus certainly wasn't a drunk, but as we can tell, didn't completly abstain from alcohol. So, if Jesus did it how could it be a sin? Drinking, in itself is not sinfull. It may even have certain health beifits.

There is an other matter here that needs to be disscussed before we call this question "answered". Is drinking in excess a sin. Most definitly. But remember, anything in exess can be a sin. The Catechism of the Catholic Church explains-

"The virtue of temperance disposes us to avoid every kind of excess: the abuse of food, alcohol, tobacco, or medicine. Those incur grave guilt who, by drunkenness or a love of speed, endanger their own and others’ safety on the road, at sea, or in the air"

The apostle Paul also warns against drunkedness-

"And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery; but be filled with the Spirit (Eph. 5:18)."

"For a bishop, as God’s steward, must be blameless; he must not be arrogant or quick-tempered or a drunkard . . . (Titus 1:7)."

So we have learned that there is nothing wrong with drinking in moderation, but that the problem arises when we abuse the privlage.

We must remember though that we must abstain from even responsible dirinking, say around an alcoholic or in an another inapropriate situation.

God Bless, I hope this helps.

  5. To believe in god is to consider improving one's condition in this world and not what happens after the circle of life completes itself with death.
