What is the big deal with Blu Ray when people have DVD's and VCR... Why do people want better picture???

Why are people so picky on what they see?

Why can't they just go outside where its bascially HD and spend more time outdoors then watching HD Digtial TV or Blu ray... and PS3 whats wrong with graffics that have to look real.

Well, OK, when I can go outside and watch a couple of pirate ships battle it out in the middle of a hurricane in my backyard, I'll stop watching blu-ray.  Or, when I can safely go outside and watch a shark chomping on a school of fish near the bottom of the ocean in water so clear, you can count the grains of sand on the floor, I'll give up HDTV.

I agree that people should get outside more often overall, but there are some things that just aren't going to be feasible for people to do.  Besides which, there's always room for a good movie - and if you're going to watch a movie, you might as well try to get the best picture and sound possible, yes?

You're more than welcome to choose to stay behind with your black & white 10" TV with rabbit ear antenna, as you squint at tiny fuzzy images from your badly degraded VHS tapes.

DVD carries a video signal designed in the 1940's for a nine-inch tube.  While we magnify it, project it bigger - it still shows the limits of technology from that era.

We have been WAY, WAY overdue for a change that takes advantage of nearly seventy years of advancements.  The TV's are modern, the Cameras are modern, the DVD players are modern ... all to carry video that is backwards compatible to TV's from the late 40's, early 50's.

Kind of ironic you are using a computer to rant against new technology.

this is officialy the stupidest question ever. people like things on the televison to look clear as possible to make it look like they r actually there. u go outside when u want to experience some event. tv is purely for entertainment and relaxation. blu ray and ps3 games look more rule to enhance the realism and make it look more authentic.
