What is the big diffrence between goth and emo?

Both emo and goth are fashion/image styles centered around emo and goth music respectively.

Goth music is typically dark and angry, like heavy metal but more 1990's alternative than actual 1980's heavy metal. It has an overall theme of depression, anger, darkness, and death. The associated fashion style is to wear mostly black clothes. Sometimes they wear long dark coats. Sometimes they wear black nail polish, lipstick, and extreme eye makeup. Goth kids often tend to write poetry that romanticizes death and sadness. A major movie that typifies the goth style is 1992's The Crow, staring Brandon Lee.

Emo music is an offshoot of punk rock. Basically, you take the rawness, the driving energy, and the bad vocals of punk and you lean it towards being very whiny and sad, almost always about relationships gone wrong. The associated fashion style of emo is sort of like punk, which is basically dressing like you're from the 1980's. But emo differs from punk in that there is more of a slant towards purposely looking like a geek. Often, emo kids wear those glasses with the rectangular frames. Those are known as "emo glasses". I guess the idea behind looking geeky is that it makes it look like they can't get a date, which gives them a reason to whine about girls.

In a way, you could sum it up by saying that goth romanticizes death and darkness, while emo romanticizes being love-sick and broken-hearted.

well Goth, kids try to be anti social, and different from the crowd.

Emo kids do the same thing but whine about everything.

People who are Goths belong to a sub culture of sorts in society. They look a certain way (generally wear all black, have piercings).

People who are Emo are generally very emotional (hence the term 'Emo') and complain a lot. They tend to be overly dramatic and sometimes cut themselves. Emo people can be Goths and vice versa. However, Emo people can belong to any sub culture of society while Goths are a subculture of their own.
