That would be the seizure of lands and money from the organization formerly known as the Knights Templar.  Right before their public executions.  Very Christian.

I always thought the biggest physical heist was the IRA robbery in 2004 in Britain.  I think that was 26 million?  But then there's electronic heists, I've heard of a near successful one for half a billion.
