I live in the southeast corner of northwest Arkansas and when i was a kid we used to go up to my Grandma's house outside Prairie Grove and find lots of the small fossils.

  1. I saw some in Frankfurt (Germany) which were at least with a stem of 1 m long and fully conserved.

The size of modern crinoids seems to be in relation with depth, the larger crinoids being in the abyss. I dont know if it is related to cold waters, quiet environment or something else. As far as I made research, it is still unknown, most works on this were done 100 to 130 years ago.
