  1. overboring that motor won't give you much if any horsepower boost, probably not enough to measure in any performance category, and almost certainly not enough to justify the cost, even if you do it yourself.

  2. you can go as far as you want or can afford.. sleeving, trick machining, turbo chargers ,blowers, superchargers, nitrous.... should i go on ? it will depend on what you're willing to spend.. there's "eco-tech" motors out there making in excess of 1200 horsepower ! ( jim epler's is one )  do some reasearch on these motors before you throw a mountain of cash it --and miss !!  they dont like nitrous and you cant do alot to them without alot of expense. sure --a small 50 or 75 n2o shot may work but, your motor will not last.

boring the motor will do nothing with out replacing the pisons. it has nothing to do with the cam size. to put a bigger cam (more lift) you will have to check for valve to piston clearances ! then replace the springs so you wont collapse the stock ones. at that point you will most likely have to redo the pistons and do some balancing if you realy want it to run better. a big cam wont do you any good on a stock 4 banger.. there are some high performance cams ready to use but, why bother for 3-- 20 hp.. you realy wont know the difference. step up the compression and then go to a big cam.. at least then you will feel a horsepower change.. so will your wallet... and after all that--you'll have faster 4 cylinder with the milage of a v8...!?!?
