  1. us open since its always played on the toughest golf courses.

  2. The US Open is the most difficult to win, followed by the Open Championship, then the PGA and lastly the Masters which is an invitational.  They are all equal in stature which is what makes them majors.

  3. The most meaningful major tournament is the U.S. Open . which represents the championship of our country. In 2007 well over 6800 tried to qualify with 156 playing the first two days. In 2008 there were slightly more but I don't remember seeing  the final total.

  4. I'd say the Player's Championship

--its the last major of the year

--its part of the FedEx Cup playoffs

--its usually the most exciting to watch because the players are all fighting for first place (especially this year because Tiger isnt in it)

  5. swingman.. the players championship isn't a major.

I think the U.S. Open is because its always on the hardest golf course.

  6. The biggest Major in Golf I would have to Say is  The U.S. Open

The U.S. Open has a very rich Tradition and is usually a tougher playing condition. It its made up of some of the best golfers in the World including the  winners of the U.S. Open for the last ten years and the other three majors for the last five years, the top 30 from the previous year's PGA Tour money list, the top 15 from the previous year's European Tour money list, and the top 50 in the Official World Golf Rankings.

The final round is always played on Sunday and what a great thing to do with your father than watch golf on his day The playoff is no ordinary playoff. The playoff is an entire 18 hole Playoff to see who is the winner.

Who can forget the duel this year between Tiger and Rocco??

The U.S. Open is a major with History, Pride, and Tradition. It showcases some of the best players dueling it out on very hard conditions and that is why i think it is the biggest major.

  7. Each major is considered equal in value reguardless of which one the golfer wins .It is  still considered a major. Each golfer has their favorite one and they may put more personal value on each one.

I read an article of how different golfers rank each major. The majority picked the U.S. or British Open as their favorite.

The British is the oldest major 137 years old.

  8. For me, either of the Opens (Open Championship, US Open).

The Masters has a very small field (90-95 players) compared to 156 for the Opens.

The USPGA lets in 20 PGA Professionals who otherwise are not on the PGA Tour.

The Open Championship has the most global field, and is the biggest wildcard relative to weather (August in the USA is almost always hot and humid, June is usually warm); July in the British Isles is a bit of a lottery.

For Americans, I would think that the US Open (being their "national championship") would rate the highest, but for me, the Open Championship would be the biggest one.
