(Or close to absolute zero) Do you know the answer? (I do.) First one to get it right wins the 10 points. Good luck.

  1. The answer is "NO object has ever or ever will be chilled to absolute zero".  From the laws of thermodynamics it is not possible to get to that state (all motion stops).  It takes both an infinite number of steps and an infinite time.  You may ask what is the closest to absolute zero that has been achieved...

    There is some "debate"...

.0001K is claimed in one source

but most believe that 500 pico Kelvin is the record holder:

Anyone who lists an "object" as the answer to your question has been "fooled".

If you want to know the largest object ever chilled close to absolute zero, the answer is a space craft.  Most specifically..

    The Planck spacecraft.

  2. I love this question, although it's an easy one for me. (I have been following it closely.)

The answer is the ring of the LHC at CERN. (Atom smasher) This Chilled monster goes on line in only 3 days now. Go to both of these links to see info. Let's hope we are all still here in 4 days....LOL  :-o (Just kidding...don't worry.)
