  1. Ooh where do you start. Petticoat Lane on a Sunday, massive for cheap clothes, and snide gear.

Camden, it's a mix of alternative everything, and a haven for drug heads, and those living another lifestyle.

Chapel Street, and Walthamstow, both large more traditional markets, Walthamstow supposed to be the longest in London (end to end).

Greenwich Sunday, gone down hill lately, but still good for old junk and the odd find, used to be books and records, but last time (3 weeks ago) I couldn't find any.

Back of Waterloo Station, the name I forget, similar to Chapel St and Walthamstow, fruit veg clothes etc.

Boro Market, by London Bridge Station, good for your organic grub, but pricey, and a bit pretentious, good for B list celeb spotting though.

I've forgotten loads, and probably missed the best, good luck hunting them down though.

  2. I've been around for many years ,going to all the markets in London. For me  Petticoat lane was the best before car boots were ever around ,but I notice now' the bargains are no more they are charging Harrods prices in most of these places so now,

I go to Oxford Street ,the shops their are as cheap as any market and you are safe in the way you can go back and change items if you wish  and you can go any day of the week. Even Harrods is pretty good

  3. Portobello

  4. Here are several street markets in London:

Borough Market:  Not quite in the street but THE market to visit for very good quality food.

East St (Walworth):  Cheap market with bric-a-brac, household products and food.

Ridley Road (Dalston):  Similar to East St.  Very Cheap and typical of an east end market

Portobello Road (Notting Hill) :  Still has a traditional street market feel to it with reasonable prices, even though the area has been extremely gentrified.

  5. Get the tube to Brixton, and turn left onto Electric Avenue. Brixton market may be far from the biggest, but I love the look and the smell of all the colourful ethnic foods.

  6. The Walthamstow market is very long. A lot of cheap stuff. When I was last there the clothes weren't very good quality.

  7. walthamstow is quite long and busy or try Roman road market E.3, camden market as well

  8. Walthamstow market, East London E17

  9. Get down to Camden on a Sunday, really big and really funky!

    Enjoy, Steve.

  10. Spitalfields

  11. Theres a huge one at Vauxhall Bridge called Nine Elms Market. Easy bus routes from central london and tube near by. Its huge and its got plenty to offer including household goods and brick-a-brack. Theres plenty for eating or drinking, Its at the back of Sainsburys. Ask anyone and they will let you know. Very good also for your mobiles and most people seem friendly enough. Check your opening times but open on Sundays, not sure about other days, the info is easy to find on the internet

  12. Its Walthamstow...Spitalfields is not really a street market

  13. North Weald market on Saturdays is said to be the largest of its kind.  Down the M11, get off at junction 7 and it is well signposted.

  14. The biggest street Market in London is at Walthamstow . It stretch all the way up from St. James's to way past the bus station.

Ridley Road (Hackney) is small but far more diverse, with food from the four corners of the earth including Giant Snails

"East Street", by the Elephant is actually called East Lane whilst Chapel Street, is rather small very expensive and full of Islingtonians

Camden, Spitalfields and The Borough are really just Tourist Traps whilst the real market at Greenwish is held just round the coner from the official site.

  15. Try Walthamstow market east London, it's my favourite market has everything you could ever need its so big most people don't make it from one end to the other, I haven't been for a while due to lack of transport.

  16. What about Roman road east london.

  17. oxford street

  18. Great Western International near Heathrow,

  19. Go To SOUTHALL on  Sunday ........Its A Very Famous Sunday International Market .... You Can Find Every Thing there.......!

  20. Camden

  21. I always used to go to Ladbroke Grove in west London on a Saturday, it was great, very varied, very cheap, but I suppose today it is commercial, trendy and pricey.  Petticoat Lane in the east end is still open on Sundays, and that's worth a visit.
