A normal fasting blood sugar result is lower than 100 milligrams of glucose per deciliter of blood (mg/dL).

The normal range for people without diabetes is 4 percent to 6 percent. An A1C level lower than 7 percent is a common target for people with diabetes

A normal random blood sugar level hasn't been clearly defined. However, even if you've recently eaten and your blood sugar level is at its peak, your random blood sugar level shouldn't be higher than 200 mg/dL.

A normal blood sugar level after an oral glucose tolerance test is lower than 140 mg/dL.

  2. Visit my blog site and print off the Blood Glucose Level Chart. The chart relates the HbA1C and daily finger prick test results. The chart cover the complete range and converts USA and Canadian readings. Study the chart to understand your mother's daily reading and with a dietitian's adjust her diet accordingly.

    Best Wishes.

  3. They used to say that readings were good if they were 70 to 120, but they have decided that that is way too low for many diabetics, in fact 70 is hypoglycemic for many of us.  Here are the newer numbers give to be by an endocrinologist recently

    Fasting  in morning before breakfast

    110  Excellent

    140  Acceptable

    180  Fair

    2 hours after your meal

    140  Excellent

    180  Acceptable

    235  Fair

Those numbers are for those that HAVE diabetes.

For those that are NONDIABETIC...these are the normal ranges are as follows...

    Fasting.....70 to 99

    2 - 4 hours after a meal  70 - 139

  4. post lunch 120-160 and fasting blood sugar should be 70-100 mg.

  5. normal blood sugar is from 70 to 100

  6. There are a few different tests. The most useful test for diabetes is the Fasting Blood Glucose test, where you fast overnight before giving the blood sample in the morning. The normal range is 3-5.5 mmol/L. Above 5.5 mmol/L suggests impaired glucose tolerance (pre-diabetes) and above  approximately 7mmol/L is almost always diagnostic of diabetes.
