  1. It's about a squad of soldiers in Vietnam that go after a deserter in their squad, Cacciato. Cacciato, who is considered quite dumb, is headed for Paris. Along the way, the squad becomes deserters themselves. What is the theme of the book? I have no idea. Something to do with running away from a war, I guess.
