I have been racking my brain try-ing to remember what the book is called that I use to fill out when songs were played at the radio station when I was a DJ. I'm sure now its a lot simpler, because songs are picked ahead of time. I delt with requests and a lot more freedom--but I still had to record when and what I played for our records. Does anyone know what that is or was called?

  1. Was it the ASCAP/BMI book?

The ASCAP/BMI Book is the one that you have to write down every song played over your station for the entire day, or days.

It is a lot more easy now, with computer generated play lists all you have to do now is send them a copy of your music log instead of writing every song down in the book.

  2. Sounds like a Log to me!

I run logs daily. Reminds me, I'm putting off running tomorrow's right now LOL

I've only been in radio for 4 years, but talking with my coworkers who've been doing this most of their lives, things seem much simpler now. Songs are automated in my market, and the cmoputer keeps track of all changes. This also helps for billing and co-op purposes.
