I went to the bookstore and only read the first chapter probably. The narrator is talking about his first encounter with the girl whose brother died? And she found a book? I don't quite understand.

  1. Here's a short answer:

I agree - The intro to the book is a bit confusing, I know it. But once you get into it, you'll love it. I promise.

The book is about Liesel. It goes through the years of her childhood (from something like, 9 to 14) and it's all about the events that happen during it really.

But the book is amazing, and I'm quite sorry - I'm not very good at reviewing books.

But I highly recommend you buy it. I can't tell you why (long story) but this book (in a way) changed my life. I sound really dramatic, but it really touched me.

It is indeed, an excellent book.

  2. the book thief is a great book, about a girl and her foster family living in n**i Germany.

Death narrates, and it's confusing at first, because it's out of order but just read the whole book and then you'll understand at the end.

it's a wonderful book and i loved it!

  3. i have the book too. its my summer reading book. but i didn't finish it.

but i read the beginning. its the prologue. it just tells you the beginning of how she got the book and it tells you why she was taken to a foster family.because without it you would be asking why does she have the book and why did her mom give her away.so yeah. i liked how it was narrated by death i found that really cool. i haven't finished reading it so i can't say more..but my friends ruined the ending for me but i won't ruin it for you.

  4. It’s just a small story really, about among other things: a girl, some words, an accordionist, some fanatical Germans, a Jewish fist-fighter, and quite a lot of thievery. . . .

Set during World War II in Germany, Markus Zusak’s groundbreaking new novel is the story of Liesel Meminger, a foster girl living outside of Munich. Liesel scratches out a meager existence for herself by stealing when she encounters something she can’t resist–books. With the help of her accordion-playing foster father, she learns to read and shares her stolen books with her neighbors during bombing raids as well as with the Jewish man hidden in her basement before he is marched to Dachau.

This is an unforgettable story about the ability of books to feed the soul.

I couldn't write a good summary. The book was amazing and I found it interesting that it was narrated by Death. I suggest you read it.
