I don't think that the bottom, as you are probably thinking, has a name.  As a diver I experience it a surge.  That is a back and forth motion of the water when a wave passes over.  A wave does not touch the bottom until the water depth is the same as the height of the wave that you see on the surface, then it will rise as the bottom rises before cresting.
