  1. bright star???

  2. North star

  3. Jupiter

  4. Southern skies is a little vague, but lets look at some of the possibles.

If its almost due south, reddish in colour and twinkles, its the red giant star Antares.  There are other stars in this area, but none are as bright or large as Antares.

If its in the southeast, whitish, and doesn't twinkle its the planet Jupiter.

If its in the southwest (and a little higher up than Antares), whitish, and twinkles its the star Spica.

You might try astronomy.com - there is a feature there (Your Sky Tonight) where you can indicate your location and it will show you the sky and label the brighter objects.

  5. It's Jupiter.

  6. It is the planet Jupiter.
