Alrighty I got a ps3 with a component hookup(red,green,blue,white,red) and It only supports 180i on my 55" hitatchi which supports 480i-1080p. on my 22" it supports 1080p thru the same hookup can anyone tell me y? Also is it worth goin for an HDMI cable for ps3 so i can get the 1080 on my big tv? thank you very much =)

  1. you can buy component cables that do 1080p. Same quality except component is analog and hdmi is digital. Downside to component  is you cant upconvert sdvd, has to be hdmi.


  2. It only gives you 1080p if you connect HDMI from PS3 to TV.

  3. Tough to follow your question.

    The benefit of HDMI is cable consolidation only. You can get hd video and multi channel audio one a single wire. (Without HDMI that could take 10 cables)

    From a video perspective only- component (RBG) is just as good as DVI/HDMI. You should not be able to tell any difference. In fact- serious videophiles sometimes say that component cables look better than HDMI or DVI.

    The answer to your question might be simple setting on the Hitachi. Also make sure that you are using the same media when trying both tvs.

  4. the settings on your big screen must be wrong or are you sure the hitachi supports 1080p.a lot of tvs are sold as 1080 and do not always mean 1080p
