What is the cable called that has both component video and sound?

I was asking questions at Best Buy and they said there was a cable that had both component video and sound, but I forget what it was called....

Also, I wanted to know if there is a switcher for this connector. I got a switcher today that has component video, s-video, and composite video, and I'm just wondering if I should wait for one that has the component video sound connector.

There is no such cable. I am wondering why you need any switcher at all. Doesn't your tv have enough inputs or s-video or component inputs?A component cable is made up of 3 coax cables usually coloured red,green and blue but this is just to make it easier to hook up. They may be bundled together or apart and makes no difference . If a set of audio cables usually coloured red and white is bundled with them so be it but there is no name for this. Its just a component cable with some audio cables. Best Buy is not the greatest resource for audio or video. Not to denigrate all their employees but most barely know the basics. it will be red blue green cables + 1 red & white for audio .

but dump the red & white .and go for optical instead

Some of the component cables you can buy come packaged with a set of stereo audio RCA cables (red and white/black), but there isn't a specific name for them -- that I'm aware of, at least -- beyond the typical "A/V" cable marking.

Also, some of us know what we're talking about at Best Buy.

I'm guessing that you mean an HDMI cable. HDMI is digital and it sends video and audio signals with one cable. There are hdmi splitters and switches but you can't go from a digital connection to an analog (in other words, you can't change hdmi into component cable)
