A little girl I know, I am close to her parents, and she is 2 years old, the lips around the bottom part of her privates are stuck together, it is below her pee hole, and she just has an opening like the size of a pea. I haven't seen it, but this is what her parents are telling me, and their dr won't tell them what the cause is. The outer skin in her private area is all closed except for a pea size hole. What is the cause of this and how can it be prevented? Please help.

you can get much information in this website, If you will check anyone blue link in website.

  2. It's called a Labial Adhesion and it is completely normal. It's because infant and toddler girls don't have enough estrogen in their system, so their v****a's are *sticky*. Hence the sticking. It's strange the doctors didn't know immediately what this was, considering how common it is.

My 21 month old actually has one right now. They will have to make a doctors appointment, but there is medicine that the doctors can prescribe. The medicine has to be used for about 6 weeks, but it works.

Also, once they get it once, it's easier for them to get them again (my daughter is on labial adhesion number 3).  The only thing you can do to prevent them is to use vaseline whenever you see one starting to form. And once the 6 weeks are up, it's recommended to use the vaseline for 2-3 weeks after that.

Just remember, it's not dangerous, and it's very common. But, it can be very uncomfortable/painful for the baby, so a doctors visit should be scheduled soon....just so they can get the medicine started.

Edit: Just wanted to add that the medicine is an estrogen cream, just like what the poster below me wrote.

  3. My sisters first born daughter had the same problem when she was born. She went straight to the doctor and got some kind of cream to open up the Private area as it should be.The opening was there but just needed the cream to soften the area(skin)so it would open.Your friend should get a 2nd opinion!!

  4. The doctor may be waiting to see if this condition

corrects itself naturally over time. If it were me, I would be pushing the doctor for more information. It may require an operation later.

  5. I don't understand how it keeps happening. Either that is her anatomy or it's not. If it's "stuck together" by some secretions, the doctor should be able to tell the parents why - if not, they need to find a new doctor.

  6. It is called a fused labia.  Sometimes the child is given estrogen cream with helps separate them, but it does at times fuse bck together when they are very young.  here is some additional info for ya
