My friend and I will go to Rome with interrail this summer and we have to book a bed and breakfast soon. But we can't really be sure how to pick one because we don't know what the center of Rome is called.

  1. everything near  "piazza di spagna" and "via del corso"  "piazza del Popolo" is really central.

Avoid place near the Vatican (they are not central at all)

my place for example is central:

  2. O M , it's simple

  3. one thing would like to add you, if you stay in centre or near termin station, hotel prices are bit high than outer skirts.  I am staying bit away and get train or bus to city centre. it is lovely travelling and hotel prices are lower, most of the time i saved some bugs and bought something from rome

  4. Hi nims...I'm italian and I know very well Rome because I was born there and I live there!!!Sorry if my english isn't so good and you can't understand well enough what i'm going to say...

From what I've understood, you don't know what's the centre of the city...it's the area where you can find the Coliseum(so "Via dei Fori imperiali")or "piazza di spagna"(Trinità dei monti), where you can see the spanish stairs...or also "Via del Corso" and "Villa Borghese"...it's difficult to say what's the center of Rome...it's so BIG!!!!!

I suggest you to book an hotel near the termini station...there you can catch the right subway and go everywhere!!I hope I helped you!!!bye

  5. I've been using this site for several years to book accomodations here in Italy: http://en.venere.com/hotels_rome/.

If you select "Find Hotels on Map", the areas most centrally located for the tourist sites are the ones called Pantheon, Trevi, Navona, and Colosseo. The Repubblica area around Roma Termini train station is generally cheaper but still within walking distance. The area around the Spanish Steps is reasonably close too. Venere includes B&Bs or you can use other sites if you find one you like.

In Italian Centrum would be "Centro"
