She is questioning joining the services, but have some basic fears.

Links would be nice.

  1. Ohh gawd.. I hope they are not high at all.. lol

My hubby is out there right now... :-s

14 months.. and still has ALL LIMBS!

  2. IT ALL DEPENDS..

  3. Through September of last year there were 760 amputees produced by operations in Afghanistan and Iraq. Of those, 500 suffered loss of a limb, hand or foot.

  4. thats nearly impossible to answer. In some cases it depends on the person, how aware they are of their surrounds and such. In other cases it depends on situation, where you are, if theres a conflict.

  5. well i went to afghanistan and if u have been watching the news afghanistan is worse now, what is her mos? and plus i never thought of losing limbs so that helped me a lot and tell her not to worry about it, i was in afghan for 15 months, she will be fine and tell her not to worry and idk the chances of getting ur limbs blown off, it all depends on where ur at in iraq and how bad the fighting is and how bad the ied's are(improvised explosive devices)

  6. todays war techniques save you from landmines... so the chances of loseing a limb is about a quarter as it was 35 years ago... id guess the chances is about 1 in 500 and this is saying the loss of a half a leg not full

  7. For some perspective, go to purplefoxyladies.com and supportsarge.org

Sometimes the injuries are not visible.

  8. depends what service, women are not placed in 'combat roles' of course if necessary any role could see combat, but they can't go for infantrymen.

But a service would be nice/occupation.  If shes in the navy for example.. not very likely.

  9. You can't really base your chance of getting injured on statistics, it all depends what type of soldier you are and if you're in the right place at the wrong time.

  10. Pretty slim. Especially since she's a female, and women generally aren't in combat roles.
