  1. i would say less than 50/50.

  2. i dont know. how would i know

  3. Well, to start with... don't take any food into your tent.. no snacks in the sleeping bag unless you want a furry companion.  Garbage disposed of, etc. will reduce your chances..

  4. Never happen unless you leave food out and they come for it and you feel brave enough to take back form her/him bears stay up high and try to avoid humans. 1in a 100000

  5. In the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the chances are next to zero.

The rangers there are very knowledgeable about the bear population, and have a pretty good handle on where each bear is pretty much all the time.

Really, the bears there are not agressive - they will use a lot of strength to get to food that they smell, and can destroy a lot of property getting to it, but if you use common sense (stay on the trails, stay with another person, don't feed the bears) you're very safe there.

  6. I'd say about 2,000% likely as bears are the number one threat to America.
