If you signed the paper for the recruiter but then decide against it and steadfastly refuse to go? Is it the same as draft dodging or worse?

  1. no untill ur sworn in ur not held responsable and cause u chaned ur mind isnt anything wrong either

  2. Nothing.  If you are in DEP and you back out there's nothing that anybody can or will do to you.  This happens all the time.

  3. Nothing. Except having that on your conscious forever.

  4. i would consider it worse then draft dodging since this individual vilontaraily signed a contract..As for the charges there are none this individual will just recieve an entry level seperation "ELS"

  5. You may regret it later down the line but there are no legal consequences at all. There is no punishment, no jail time and nothing on your permanent record. The swear in that counts is in boot camp and not at MEPS. Also you can get a "Failure to adapt" discharge during the first six months and there won't be any record of you quiting the military on your record. Your recruiter will tell you otherwise but its a bluff and you're more than welcome to talk to an attorney if you don't believe me. To everyone saying that refusing to go will end up in any kind of negative consequence please get your facts straight before you spread bum scoop. The military is not for everyone and its better you get out before you deciding to quit while the guy to your left and right is relying on you. Make sure you're certain about whatever decision you make because I've heard plenty of regret stories about joining and about not joining

  6. NOTHING

  7. you dont belong in the army then because you are a little girl, join the air force

  8. If you signed the contract, then you are obliged to go.  Otherwise you can be charged with desertion.

The military didn't prosecute as strongly as it does now.  Even several years ago, they allowed some wiggle room.

Unfortunately, if you signed the contract and now you want to back out, you had better get a lawyer.

I actually sort of feel sorry for people who do that.  Even if the military does not take immediate action against you, you will be screwed for the rest of your life with some nasty consequences if they drop the contract but give you a dishonorable discharge.

I don't know all the legal ramifcations, but once you sign that contract you are subject to the Uniform Code of Military Justice, and the UCMJ can be very harsh.

My best to you, but you need to honor your commitment to your country and to yourself.  Report, ship, and serve; or get a lawyer.

  9. You have sworn yourself to protect the constitution. If you refuse to obey your command provided they dont break the Uniform Code of Military Justice then u will be prosacuted under the UCMJ. In war time deserting the US could mean exacution. But were not in a declacred state of war. Improsenment. Or Unhonorable discharge which makes you look like like c**p in the eyes of the public, meaning good luck getting hired at McDonalds. Edit Srry thats after you swear in and go thru initual training, becoming perminent party. If your at recruiter station still, no one is going to do anything, wussies get cold feet and back out all the time.

  10. In my book, I would charge the person you describe with being a gutless waste of time. But that's just in my book.

  11. Did you actually raise your hand and swear in?  If not, then you are not in the service.  Although I may not agree with your choice, I recognize your write to make it. But think why you wanted to be in the service and what made you change your mind. Think very carefully as this decision will probably affect the rest of your life.
