I have mostly clay soil and there are some parts of the lawn that are green but are not thick like other areas... is this an aeriation problem or thatching? help me decide which..... I have used a Robowmower for four (4) years and it's great! It is a great compromise between using a lawn service and mowing it yourself.

  1. by your self shows with spikes like the one the use for base ball and walk over the lawn

  2. I live in FL, and even St. Augustine this year is browning. Certainly that equates to rainfall in part. Aeriation is hardly the problem as the root system is so shallow.

I'd thatch, and use some high percentage, Nitrogen fertilizer.

I have seen a tool specific to your intent, though. It's just a handle with metal drum on a bracket, with teeth on it, and one just rolls it around. It's probably only about a six inch wide wheel, but as good or better than GOLF shoes.

    Just my two "sense"
