What is the cheapest area in Ireland to stay?

Question

The cheapest hotels, transportation, cigarettes. But is still interesting and has alot of pubs around I can meet people and get drunk.

How cheap is cheap? In euro or dollars is fine. For say, whiskey and water or a pint?

I think the less touristy areas are usually the cheapest since the tourist areas are marked up.  So, head up to the far Northwest or north of Dublin...

There are pubs all over Ireland so that's not a problem.  Can't quote you prices because don't remember rates.

The city of Waterford in County Waterford is the cheapest city all around that I have found.  Accomodation is inexpensive and transportation is cheap, too, though the city is pretty condensed - you shouldn't need it very often.  Cigarettes are cheap enough already in Ireland - and if you ever run out, anyone can give you one.  The city itself is really interesting, but the college kids make it so much fun.  Waterford Institute of Technology is home to thousands of students and every single student parties most nights of the week, but mainly Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday night - no kidding.  Tuesday and Wednesday are left for recovering.

You won't pay less than 4 euros for a good, solid pint.  However, make friends with the loudest guy in a pub, whether you're male or female, and he'll buy you as many drinks as you want just because he's too drunk to care that he's throwing his money around.  : )

whisky is about €4.50 for a glass of whisky and youll meet loads a people and especially get drunk.

Stay away from the big cities and the touristy areas.  Drink what the locals are drinking...Guinness everywhere, but Murphy's Stout in the Cork area. Stay at B and B's. They offer good Irish meals and a "homey" feeling. Don't worry about finding a pub ANYWHERE in Ireland.  Just look to your left or your right, and you will find one there.  Have a great time!
