  1. HI Bree,

Sounds to me that you want to find a good flute but don't really have the money for any flute that is expensive.   I know what you mean.   The flute that you found for the bargain price is a cheap flute.... and I mean cheap... not as in price,  but in quality.   In other words it is crummy.   Surely your parents are not asking you to go out and find a flute for yourself?  You need them for researching and buying the flute for you.   If money is a really big issue.... I have a couple of places your parents can find a bargain... but you need to tell them about the name brand flutes which to look for.

    Yamaha

    Gemeinhardt

    Armstrong

    Emerson

    Pearl

    Artley

And that is about it.  These are flutes that band directors will approve of.  If you find other name flutes,  I would think they are those crummy ones I was mentioning earlier... don't go for them as they come here from china and korea...  you don't need or want that kind.

Ask mom or dad to check on Craigslist . org in your city (under musical instruments - and type in Flute - in that search box) or also on eBay, newpaper classifieds, or pawn shops.  I know a couple of those places, people tell you not to check with.... but if you cannot afford one of the expensive stores,  you might just have to,  in order to get a flute AT ALL!!!   Just remember when you are looking for a nice used flute... only the namebrands that I gave you.  OK?

Thanks for reading... and I hope you can find a nice flute.  It sounds like you really want to play very badly.

  2. There is NO such thing in this world like a cheap and good flute -you just have to pay enough for the quality and preferably choose a well-known brand for yourself (the one you suggested is not a well-known brand at all)!!! Do not go for a nickle-plated instrument because it will give you allergy symptoms, instead invest for a good quality silver-plated instrument like Yamaha. Also, never ever buy any instruments off of auction sites online (eBay etc.) because those things they sell there are too often utter rubbish!!
