Question:

What is the cheapest high-mileage (25mpg+ city) 4-wheel drive or all-wheel drive car?

I need 4wd or awd because I live in Chicago and it gets very slippery here in the winter. I looked at the Civic and the Corolla and both are front-wheel drive.

  2. That would be Subaru or Audi.

    My Audi A4 gets about 33 mpg (on the hwy) and 23 combined (that's REAL not estimated MPG).  Currently it has about  65K miles and KBB.com says it is worth only about $10K.

  3. If its slippery you need winter tires not AWD, the winter tires give you more control when cornering and braking, all wheel drive will get you going faster but that's it.
