The cheapest and the most convenient ways may not be the same.

There's the bus, which is cheap. You can take the Greyhound, but even better than the Greyhound is the Amtrak bus. Since there's only one Amtrak train a day, from Vancouver to Seattle which leaves in the evening, they have "shuttle buses" during the day taking you by coach to the Seattle Amtrak station and beyond by train if you wish. The nice thing about the Amtrak bus is that it's cheaper and it doesn't stop all the time like the Greyhound does. It goes straight through.

If the bus isn't your thing, there's more expensive options. Like flying. You could take a regular flight, and I believe you can take a seaplane too. The seaplane would be much more convenient in my opinion, as they're much smaller, and you don't have to deal with the airports and all that stuff.

Another decent option, if you plan on returning, is to rent a car. Some companies let you take their cars across the border (Avis for example), and some also have unlimited kilometers.

You may even be able to hook up with someone going down through a rideshare. Check out craigslist, there seems to be people needing and offering rides through Seattle often enough. www.craigslist.org

Cheapest would probably be take the bus. Whether that is the most convenient or not depends on where in Vancouver you live and where in Seattle you are going.

Cheapest is probably the bus. Most convenient is driving yourself, because you won't have to deal with getting to the depots or airports on both ends from wherever you are staying on each end (plus there's no security line ups).

Train takes the same time as driving pretty much, its comfortable but not particularly convenient, often the same as a cheap flight.
